The 9500 goal mask features a complete composite outer shell constructed with carbon and aramid fibers for lighter weight and strength.
The shell is high pressure molded and infused with epoxy resin to ensure saturation of the composite fibers and heat cured to provide durability and smooth finish. The shell shape is carefully designed and contoured to move impact loads away from the frontal impact areas. A flared chin allows the mask to be tucked in the chest area to better protect the neck area. An extra wide facial opening provides enhanced vertical and peripheral vision.
The cage design is optimized to provide true vision sight lines with the cage bars positioned for optimum clarity. The cage is made out of stainless steel for improved durability and low glare.
Internal padding of lightweight pro VN foam has full coverage and no gaps for continuous protection. Additionally, the padding is completely removable for cleaning and maintenance.

I bought this mask because I wanted a pro level mask without spending pro level money. The first time I wore this mask I took a shot off the chin from the blue line and it cracked all the way through. This wasn't a hard clap bomb from the slot, just a wrister from the point. however the mask failed. Granted, I didn't feel anything from the shot. I had no ringing, no headache. So I guess you could say the mask did it's job but there's no way that it should have cracked with a shot of that speed. GoalieMonkey did warranty the mask and I'm now on my second mask. Overall, It does not feel like a pro level mask even though it says so in the item description. The shell is very thin and flexible and feels almost like plastic. The foams seem like pro level foam however. The cage on the second mask was also put on crooked by about a quarter of an inch. I would recommend spending a little extra cash and getting a pro level mask from one of the smaller companies out there.Review by Matt (Posted on 10/23/2016)
Mask is solid, this is my second Vaughn mask. Cage is too thin, I replaced it with a different cage. Increased the weight but at least the bars do not bend severely when they are struck. Would give 5 stars if not for cage.Review by bigguy35er (Posted on 9/14/2016)
Have had this mask for about four years now, and I'd say it's outstanding in every way. I have a great big head (7 7/8), and it's also what motorcycle helmet makers call a "long oval." The comfort of this mask has been fantastic, as has its durability, and most important of all, its protection. Had one factory color and then bought a second one about a year ago at Goalie Monkey and had a custom paint job done on it. Both were flawless. Can't say enough good things about it...and the price is certainly right too.Review by Colorado Keeper (Posted on 3/25/2015)
This is really a great mask. I've taken some shots to the cage and mask itself and come away just fine. I haven't had any ringing or anything like that.Review by Mike (Posted on 11/23/2013)
