Details

Continuing on one of the most anticipated new lines in goaltending in the recent years, Bauer has brought one of the most engineered and technologically advanced lines of gear to the goalie market. The Vapor X700 skate is packed with new features which strive to change the face of goaltending.

With the success of the “cowlingless” goalie skate, the Vapor X700 skate is designed to increase the attack angle of goalies moving while in the butterfly position as well as recoveries and movements around the crease. The outer cowling has been removed and a “traditional” looking player holder has been added to the boot. The boot and the toe cap have been stiffened and reinforced to protect against any shots on the toe.

Included in the new Vertexx Edge Holder is the 3mm LS1G steel specifically designed for the anatomical position the goalie will be in. This steel is removed via the Edge Trigger system found under the heel and gives goalie the opportunity to change their steel on the fly.

The Vapor X700 boot has more volume in the width and ankle, when compared to the Supreme counterpart. This means that the eyelets are moved forward so there can be more wrap and tightness in the ankle area. The boot has a fully symmetrical design where the inside and outside edge of the boot is the same height to give the goalie more support running up the inside and outside of the leg. The Tech Mesh boot construction and standard felt tongue add to the softness of the skate, while still maintaining protection.

If you are an average-level goalie who is looking for some of the best innovations on the market but who wants more support in their boot, the Bauer Vapor X700 Senior Goalie Skate will not disappoint you!

Ice skate sizing is not necessarily the same as if you were buying a dress shoe or a sneaker. A men's 9 skate does not equal a men's 9 shoe. All skates are sized in Canadian sizes; which are equal to 1 1/2 sizes larger in U.S. shoe size (i.e. a men's U.S. shoe size of 9 is equal to a Canadian size of 7.5). A lot of our customers a say "I could never fit into a 7.5 shoe!" This is true, however, a 7.5 skate is not a 7.5 shoe. Typically your skate size will be 1 to 1.5 skate sizes down from your shoe size. When you receive your skates, try them on and push your foot forward so that your toes (while flat) barely glance the toe cap. Bend your knee forward and look behind the heel of your foot down the skate. If you can fit a finger behind the heel easily the skates are too big. A finger should be wedged securely between the heel of your foot and the back side of the skate. Another way to find your skate size (not width), is to remove the footbed from the skates and stand on it with your knee slightly bent. NOTE: Make sure not to sharpen your skates until you are certain you have the correct size, sharpened skates cannot be returned.

Can't beat the price

Just purchased my son his second set of these skates, and it was his choice as well. He plays AAA Pee-Wee and wears these skates more than any other footwear he owns. I feel you can't go wrong for the price, since you never really know when the growth spurts will come at this age. These skates lasted him the entire playing season, he just finally outgrew them.

Not a single stich has come loose throughout the entire boot and the blade removal system held up as well.

Great skate for me!

I am a former college player and current beer league goalie and youth coach on the ice 4 times per week. I have so far been impressed with this skate for $200. It is lightweight and quick on edge with the 3mm blade. It has taken some getting used to coming off the Bauer Supreme One60 but I am really liking it. I have a wide foot and was worried that the fit would be too tight as I could only get it in a D but the fit was perfect after baking them. It will be interesting to see how long this skate holds up but I would highly recommend it for other beer leaguers or even youth players looking for the new goalie skate technology without paying a fortune.

Great for intermediate and beer leaguer Goalie.

I have only used second-hand goalie skates for a long time cause at that time I couldn't afford new and expensive skates. But last year for the first time when I went back to a beer league I bought my RK 5k skates at an affordable price, the skates were great at begin, but then they ware very fast at the end of the second season. I need it to buy new skates and when the new line of skates with out cowling and me changing from hybrid style to full butterfly I couldn't wait to change, but skates were expensive. Then I saw this Bauer model at an affordable price and I tried it immediately.

I love them, very comfortable and great craftsmanship. I'm in my second season and skates still are like the first day I buy them, my slide improved in speed and distance, the recovery backwards to the net became very easy, my positioning and skating improved due to the great support in my ankles. Love them! At the begin I start with some lace bite, but I start to try different ways to tie my skates and finally I got it right. As a nineties goalie of a beer league trying a new style, I recommend these goalie skates.

will not fit a wide deep foot, for me

I was told these were the largest volume fitting goalie skate in Bauer's lineup now, which is opposite of the Vapor player skate. I find these fit very much like the player skate...narrow and shallow. Compared to the older Bauer Performance, Elites, and Pro's I've owned, as well as the Reactor 6000's, I can barely even get my foot in these. I also wanted to try the x700's because I do like a softer boot. Well the boot was very soft and also very thin, so I know it would not have held up very long for me. Otherwise, I think the new design is interesting, but not for me and once I run out of options for the previous generation of Bauer designed skates, I'll likely be going True/VH to get the right fit.

Great for 200

I have worn my one.9s down to the brim and had to get new skates so I went to my local goalie monkey during 4 of July. I was wearing a 9.5 in the supreme and to my surprise I should of been wearing an 11 sized skate. They were a little big but thats by design to wrap around your foot. That being said this skate is a must to bake in order to get comfort! I feel that as an entry level skate the is great. Over 5 months of use at a 6 days a week schedule it has been fantastic for 200 dollars. As you can imagine it was an emergency situation to get new skates for me at I was 1.5 sizes too small and they didn't have x900s in store so I had to settle with this. I think Bauer has changed the game in terms of entry level skates as this can pass as an mid level skate.
compared to my one. 9 (my favorite skate of all time)
steel and holder
overall I feel that Bauer did an impressive job with this steel, it hold a sharpening for about 24 ice sessions a month until they need to be sharpened and I love my skates sharp. The new holder system is very good but I feel that Bauer really screwed up the Vapor line not carying over a 4mm blade and I love 3mm blades. I feel more agile than ever but I feel a lack of feeling for support without a cowling. It hard to explain but I think that the cowling with 3mm on my one.9 made me feel so more stable but Thats my opinion
comfort
However with no forced restrictions with the cowling this Skate is much more comfy than the one.9. Not a dream to put on but no foot pain for me witch was horrible for me in the One. 9
liner and footbed
now obviously this was a downgrade but it actually improved comfort Imo. Much more comfy and simpler
support
now this is the downgrade of the skate. Now let me just clarify I'm about 6 feet and 185 and very explosive. It has almost a buckling affect as I use a scrivens skate tie method. It was kinda an issue in the one9 but its glaring now. It hurts my ankle when I load into a deep stance.
Overall Im very impressed with this skate but you still pay for what you get for. If your on a budget this is an amazing skate. Kuddos to Bauer.

Skates run big

We have never played hockey before, so I bought these for my daughter who is a high school goalie. Her foot slides inside when she skates, she tried them on and they felt great by they expanded a bit after her second skating sessions and we had them sharpened once she tried them on, otherwise, she couldn't skate on the ice and once they are sharpened goalie monkey closes the door on returns. So not an ideal situation, I would recommend 1 size smaller for any newbies like us.

Game changer

I'm never the type to claim any equipment can really improve your game. I bought new G3's recently and like them but nothing was as good as the hype. However, combine that gear with these skates and WHOA! I can't believe how effortless my footwork has become! Light as a feather and truly improved my game coming from clunky Reeboks with Step Steel Xtremes. I never realized how clunky and heavy my old skates were until now. 6 out of 5 in my book!

WOW

I am a novice goalie who has tried a couple of different skates. I started out with an old pair of bauers that were given to me. I then bought a pair Reebok 9k pumps that were to big for me and finally found a pair of Bauer supreme 180 that fit right. I now have the these Vapor X700's and I cannot believe it took this long for a skate like this to come along. I am a absolutely amazed at how light these skates are. I have skated on these a couple times protection from the toe cap seems just fine, I have taken a few of the toe and didn't feel a thing. Durability will have to remain to be seen but super excited about these skates.
