Details

Continuing on one of the most anticipated new lines in goaltending in the recent years, Bauer has brought one of the most engineered and technologically advanced lines of gear to the goalie market. The Vapor X900 skate is packed with new features which strive to change the face of goaltending.

With the success of the “cowlingless” goalie skate, the Vapor X900 skate is designed to increase the attack angle of goalies moving while in the butterfly position as well as recoveries and movements around the crease. The outer cowling has been removed and a “traditional” looking player holder has been added to the boot. The boot and the toe cap have been stiffened and reinforced to protect against any shots on the toe.

Included in the new Vertexx Edge Holder is the 3mm LS1G steel specifically designed for the anatomical position the goalie will be in. This steel is removed via the Edge Trigger system found under the heel and gives goalie the opportunity to change their steel on the fly.

The Vapor X900 boot has more volume in the width and ankle, when compared to the Supreme counterpart. This means that the eyelets are moved forward so there can be more wrap and tightness in the ankle area. The boot has a fully symmetrical design where the inside and outside edge of the boot is the same height to give the goalie more support running up the inside and outside of the leg. Also, the comfort edge and dynamic flex collar padding adds to the softness the skate provides. The tongue of the skate features a Pro Felt design which holds the goalies foot in a natural position and gives comfort on the top of the foot.

If you are an intermediate-level goalie who is looking for some of the best innovations on the market but who wants more support in their boot, the Bauer Vapor X900 Junior Goalie Skate will not disappoint you!

Ice skate sizing is not necessarily the same as if you were buying a dress shoe or a sneaker. A men's 9 skate does not equal a men's 9 shoe. All skates are sized in Canadian sizes; which are equal to 1 1/2 sizes larger in U.S. shoe size (i.e. a men's U.S. shoe size of 9 is equal to a Canadian size of 7.5). A lot of our customers a say "I could never fit into a 7.5 shoe!" This is true, however, a 7.5 skate is not a 7.5 shoe. Typically your skate size will be 1 to 1.5 skate sizes down from your shoe size. When you receive your skates, try them on and push your foot forward so that your toes (while flat) barely glance the toe cap. Bend your knee forward and look behind the heel of your foot down the skate. If you can fit a finger behind the heel easily the skates are too big. A finger should be wedged securely between the heel of your foot and the back side of the skate. Another way to find your skate size (not width), is to remove the footbed from the skates and stand on it with your knee slightly bent. NOTE: Make sure not to sharpen your skates until you are certain you have the correct size, sharpened skates cannot be returned.

Good light Junior goalie skate.

Son likes these skates because they are light. He says they are comfortable and is able to move better. We recommend this skate for the junior goalie learning to play the position.

(Youth/Junior Goalie Parent): Outstanding Value, Optimal Performance

Purchased these for our yr-one Pee Wee travel goaltender, and it’s looking as though we made an ideal choice for his needs. Extremely lightweight boot, rigid construction that lends strong ankle support, comfortable, custom fit from the first skate (we baked the boots at home before use) , excellent design & construction for a young butterfly/hybrid goalie, with perfect profile to maximize angle & trajectory during lateral pushes/T-pushes. And when our goalie has that itch to score goals, the skate blade bevel makes them suitable for him to use as a skater during “House” league play.

Awesome skates

My son loves these! We had to buy new skates in the middle of the season and I was so worried about the break in period. My son got them baked and hit the ice without skipping a beat. No blisters no pain, nothing! He loves them and gets a ton of compliments on them. In fact the other goalie on the team is saving up money to get a pair now!

Cowlingless is the way to go

Bought these to replace Reactors that my boy wore the last 2 years.
He was very hesitant, but when putting them on with pads, he was amazed at the movement ability he now has. He now has mastered pad-slide ability for his age, and it was these skates that gave him the ability to do it.

-Great fit and comfortable. (His words)
-Had to get them heated twice to get that great fit.
-3mm skate blade which is thinner than the Reactor 4mm ones.
-Tried using boot strap on rear skate loop as some of the pro's are doing; but we don't think this is necessary for younger kids quite yet.

Overall, Good skate. A tad on the pricey side for youth skates, but not too bad.
