Details

The 7700 goal mask is engineered to provide increased performance with greater visibility and sight lines.

The shell shape has been carefully contoured and molded to reduce flat spots in the design to reduce impacts in critical areas and provide lighter weight and higher strength. The flared lower chin provides added rigidity and allows the goaltender to close off the area between the neck and chest protector for greater protection coverage.

Dual density internal padding gives both the protection and comfort that goalies demand. Full inner shell padding with no gaps in impact areas gives complete coverage, resulting in exceptional coverage and fit.

The cage design has been optimized to provide true vision sight lines and positions the cage bars to achieve maximum forward and peripheral vision. All attachment hardware is manufactured in stainless steel for strength and durability to increase longevity.

If you are an intermediate level goaltender looking for a durable value-point mask, the 7700 is a great choice.

Player Profile Designed for the competitive goalie on the ice multiple times each week, looking for a mask with protection to withstand intermediate level shots.

Helmet Busted

Used the mask for less than a week. Took a shot off the chin. Mask broke severely. Got a concussion, busted lip and sore jaw.

Pretty Decent Mask

Where I'm coming from: I have been playing hockey for over 20 years and been in goal for over a decade. Been using this mask for a few months now. I play in a couple weekly pickup games...

The first is a weekly roller game with definite high level players. Because it's inline, there are a lot of high shots and there have been numerous shots to the helmet. In this game, I hear them but generally don't feel the shots to the head.

The second is an ice game that is pretty varied in skill though generally intermediate level in my opinion. I've taken a half a dozen shots to the helmet including a frozen rope or two. Though less frequent, l've felt the puck more than in the the roller game (which is the nature of the heavier puck). I have not felt unsafe though and continue to feel confident at this level.

In summary, both the cage and helmet have held up well. I don't play in a circumstance where I feel unsafe. I would not like to be hit by an 80+ mph shot to the head in any priced helmet. If this is what you are facing on the regular, be smart and buy a mask that is made to take it.

widow maker

Probably a fine bucket for some low level shinny, or a C/D league. Anything higher, and your risking your life.

This thing cracked on a shot that hit the top right side of the mask. I saw stars and was concussed.

My advice, don't buy vaughn masks.

Okay helmet if on budget.

Let me start by saying that the helmet now is fine and I am overall happy with the purchase. Have played goal as long as I can remember and am now in my 30's so have gone through quite a few helmets.

Was getting back into the net and picked up a ton of new equipment which drained my budget set aside prior to realizing how nasty the helmet I had sitting in storage for 5 years was. If I were to go back I would probably purchase the Bauer NME8, tried it on at a local hockey shop after buying this and comfort was night and day but sits at around $200 more.

I have a larger head but nothing too crazy and went with the size large, my head would not fit out of the box. The reason as some other reviews mentioned is a portion of the padding around the cheeks is for some reason elevated. It is super uncomfortable and stops you from getting your face where it needs to be in the mask. You will be able to feel the pressure points when you try it on. I immediately took out the exacto knife and cut that portion of the padding out and problem solved.

With the non certified cage visibility is great and the weight of the helmet is decent. As far as looks I think it looks cheaper (Because it is) than the Bauer NME8 and I am also not in love with the shape of the helmet. However once it is on your face this does not matter. Construction is not as solid as the higher end helmets, I am playing mens league now and ripped clappers to the head are frowned upon to say the least so not too worried.

I will most likely look at the Maltese replacement helmet padding in near future just to dial in the fit even more to my liking.

Again to summarize. Okay helmet for price if you dont mind carving up something you just paid over $200 for. If you can swing the extra money I would go for another helmet like the NME8 (fit3) that fit like a dream right off the shelf. If you are playing higher level competitive hockey you will want a helmet with better shell construction anyway and would look past this one for that reason alone.

Solid Mask

Good solid mask... Only have had it a short time, but I`ve already taken a couple of lasers off the mask... No ringing and no marks whatsoever... I also had the foam digging in on my upper cheeks... I removed portions of the foam, and now the mask fits like a glove... Good protection, nice looks, and for the price, you can`t go wrong.

ehhh... Its ok....

I expected better. As a few have said it fits tight on the cheeks. I got the certified cat eye. I should have gotten the non cert. I'm going to have to cut out some foam as one person suggested. I already cut a little out and its still tight. This is a hard product to mail order... but you can't beat the price! still a decent mask!

Good bucket for the money.

Ive had this lid for just short of two years now. Its AWESOME for roller hockey, light and breathable. I have a small head and the fit right out of the box was great. The cage needs replaced from taking a dozen or so good ones to the face (ice pucks), two of the welds broke and several bent bars. Replacement cage is around 90$ I'll either upgrade to a better lid and re-cage what I have and use the 7700 for roller or get a more stout replacement cage. I too saw chipping around the chin.

Very nice mask!!!

Got this bucket a few weeks ago and I must say. I'm pretty impressed. It was quite an upgrade from my 6 year iTech 2500. The non-certified cage has great visibility and the mask it self has a nice sleek profile. The only complaint is the foam on the cheeks. It was very uncomfortable when I first got it. I took a razor to foam that was digging into my temple as well as the parts that touched my cheek bones. After this adjustment. I'm very pleased. I play in an adult league as well as weekly pickups; few shots to the cage, temple, and top of the head and no major sting. Over great mask!!

Nice but tight

This mask fits tight on the cheeks. All else is great. Bauer's fit a bit wide and more comfortable.
