Details

In combination with the Warrior Brand and legendary goalie gear designer Pete Smith, Warrior is proud to keep tradition elevated with the brand new Ritual GT Senior pad into the market for 2017.

Beginning with a reengineered version of the G3, the GT Senior has more internal cuts and breaks which help create torsional and lateral flex in the pad which gives the goalie more energy throughout the game due to less weight being pulled during a game. The thinner profile at the top of the pad helps reduces any negative feelings from thigh rise overlap or bulky feeling when the goalie is moving throughout the crease. This also keeps the top portion of the pad closer to the goalies body for a tighter seal and maximum five hole coverage. Warrior has gone with a clean inside of the thigh rise and a slightly different core break above the knee which gives a good amount of bend when flexed but will hold its shape while covering the five hole.

Continuing on the successful design on the G3, the GT Senior now has a slightly tapered inside toe edge which aids in the torsion of the pad all while sealing the ice. This tapered design helps goalies get more flex and bend in the pad which can help reduce stress on the hips and ankles when dropping down. Combined with the strategic internal breaks at the boot and below the knee, the GT Senior pad gives a complete seal along the ice from the boot to the thigh rise.

The leg channel of the pad has a minimalist and clean setup to further promote easy attachment for goalies, but to also enhance pad rotation. The Active Response Straps include a neoprene sling wrap setup behind the goalies knee to either attach across the knee, or angled down to the calf. On top of the sling wrap is a nylon strap which connects via a plastic buckle next to the knee or angled down at the calf. This setup helps keep the goalies knee centered on the knee block so the pad does not over or under rotate. The calf has a solid wide Velcro strap which has a thinner Velcro attachment on the outside of the leg. Keeping with hybrid tradition of the pad, the GT has a brand new outer post wedge that serves a dual purpose in protecting the leg but adding comfort in the butterfly. The post wedge now has circular edges which are made softer and more flexible to feel more comfortable against the back of the leg when transitioning and in recoveries. Also, the pad comes stock with standard skate lace toe ties, rather the Active Response Elastic toe setup.

A more notable change on the GT line, the knee black has been reduced 1 inch in length from the inside edge of the pad. With this reduction, goalies are still able to get the tight seal on the ice, but the reduction also improves mobility while moving around the crease.

In comparison to the Warrior GT Senior leg pads, the GT Pro will feature upgraded internal foams and materials.

If you are a goalie who is looking for one of the most technologically advanced pads on the market, the Warrior GT Senior is the pad for you.

that its a great product overall

This product is an excellent product. One of the best leg pads I've ever owned. Slides on the ice like butter very quick a good controlled pad. I am used to a tighter fit pad so it took a couple practices to get used to them. The knee pads that come with them are meant to be for bigger knees but you can you any knee pads with them. I would recommend not using the laces that are attached with them but use the nylon to strap that comes with it.

    Follow up

This is a follow up & edit to my review earlier. The edit is I meant to say "the thighrise is softer on the RGT than the G3's" (not stiffer as I wrote). I messed that up in my initial review. The pads themselves have held up great a year later. The only wear marks I've seen are on the inner corners of the thighrise. I guess those rub against each other in the butterfly. About the sliding: These slide much better when the ice is a bit rough with a layer of snow on top. On fresh, smooth ice, they kinda feel a bit sticky. I love these pads...highly recommended. Still the best and lightest pads I've ever used.

    Great value

I have used these leg pads for both a roller league and on ice time for about 2 months. They do a great job for both. I have enjoyed the fact that they come with a set of knee pads that would cost about $80 on their own. Also, the leg pads come with a bungee type toe strap verse just a string type. I am still getting use to the bungee as with it new pulled my ankle bit but as it loosens up, it is getting more comfortable.

    Light and Highly Responsive

Coming from some used Vaughn V6 Pro-Spec (Carbon) I was curious not only of the weight, but the feel of the Warrior GT pads. First thing out of the box, these are not only lighter but weighted differently. The V6s I had aren't incredibly heavy, but it is noticeable and even more so the weight is distributed near the boot. The Warrior GT is center weighted mid pad. This center distribution plays perfectly with the Knee Drive system.

After an initial break-in and adjustment, I find my kick outs on butterflies are faster and more responsive. My butterfly drops are faster and solid and the more pronounced angular S-curve of the GT pad really helps in directing low rebounds out and away. The flexible outer boot wing secures the lower post gap without hindering my motion. All in all this pad feels more in motion with how I play and perform as a goalie.

I would recommend this pad to anyone!

So light and high quality for a non pro pad

These pads are so light and the quality is incredible for the price. I prefer these over my brains sub zero 3 pads. Will be a warrior only goalie from here on out.

    Very impressed

I got these for $400 and wow, best $400 I've spent on goalie gear, and I've been doing it for 25 years. My last set of pads was Sherwood 9990 Pro, and these blow those out of the water. They are super light, the strapping system is amazing and very customize-able, the included knee pads are great. I did have an issue keeping the knee pads up, but ended up using a garter belt and it works great now. 100% would buy again, and will probably buy another set in another 5 years or so when these get worn into the ground.

    Great pads

I got these pads after returning to the ice after a long layoff. They are fantasitc. Quick to dress, easy to adjust, and light, light light. I'm able to move around with these like I'm not wearing anything at all.
Knee guards work well, even if they are a little bulky. The standard thigh rise took some time getting used to, but nothing some ice time didn't help.

    So far so good!

So let me start out by saying I am a beer league goalie and play between 2-4 games per week. I was coming from some really outdated Warrior Swagger pads that had held up for the last 5+ years but were getting a little worn out (to put it mildly)... Be careful with the size on these pads when coming from an older set. I had 33 + 1 swaggers and thought I'd be pretty ok with the 33 + 1.5 Ritual GT's.... The new pads are at least 1" higher in the thigh rise than the old ones. Almost to the point where they rub too much together at the top. Now that I have had a couple of weeks to get used to it, it doesn't bother me as much. The pads are lightweight and super easy to strap on! The included knee guards took some getting used to (much bigger than my previous pair) but work really well with the pads - even to the point that I leave the knee channel open for maximum mobility. Rebounds are sharp and to the corners when down in the butterfly, and not much break in needed. Pads look really sharp and have had tons of compliments. If you're looking for a great pad and not to break the bank, would definitely recommend.
