Core Construction
Mid-stiff High-density Core: Built around Vaughn's mid-stiff core, the VX1 leg pads offer a softer flex through the knee and boot with springier, more rigid feel above the knees.
Thinned Thigh Rise w/ Stiffer Flex: Compared to their predecessors, the VX1 pads are designed to feel lighter, and more mobile, with a thinner thigh rise profile greatly easing pad overlap. Complementing the VX1's thinner thigh profile, stiffer foams with a stiffer thigh flex help to hold a rigid 5-hole seal.
Classic Knee Roll Build w/ Single Break Outer Roll: Vaughn's Velocity pads distinguish themselves with a more traditional, knee roll face and balanced, mid-stiff flex.
Mobility & Crease Control
QuickSlide Inner Edge: Vaughn's QuickSlide offers an unmatched balance between slide speed and control, wrapping the inner edges with a fine cross-hatched material. Compared to JenPro and other synthetic leathers found in goalie pads, Vaughn's QuickSlide inner edge not only improves slides, but improves long-term durability.
Wide Calf Plate w/ HD Reinforcement: Compared to the previous V10 pads, the Velocity VX1 pads help to hold a more stable butterfly with a wider, high-density foam calf plate. To further improve both comfort and control, a plush cushioning backs each calf plate to pad negative space in the calves.
Wide, Recessed Knee Cradle: Compared to the previous V10 pads, the VX1 pads are built to rotate more freely around the knees with a recessed knee cradle and streamlined knee stack padding.
Direct Knee Stack Integration: Built for precision control, the Velocity VX1 knee stack's top layer is directly-integrated with the leg pad core. Not just improving response, Vaughn's direct knee stack integration offers improved durability compared to a laced-in knee landing and helps ensure the pads project at a proper angle.
Fit & Strapping
Streamlined, QuickSlide Boot w/ Softer Flex: Vaughn's streamlined scoop-shaped boot helps the pads to rotate off the skates faster, complemented by an ergonomic shaping with a soft flex. Improving both durability and pad rotation, the VX1 pads' are lined through the boot with Vaughn's low-friction QuickSlide material.
Reactive Rotation Control Plus (RRC+) Calf Strapping: The Velocity VX1 pads secure at the top of the calves with Vaughn's highly-adjustable RRC+ strap design. In practice, Vaughn's RRC+ strapping allows goalies to fine-tune how the pads control from the calves, with a more open fit at the knees to help put the pads down faster.
Bungee Toe Ties w/ Clips: Compared to traditional skate lace toe ties, bungee toe ties allow for a greater range of motion in the goalie's ankle while keeping the pad properly anchored.
Knee-to-Floor Measurement: Without shoes or skates, measure the vertical distance from the floor to the middle of the knee cap. Refer the K-t-F measurement to the chart above to find the goalies' recommended base leg pad size.

*Thigh rise height has not been included as thigh rise is largely player preference. Retail stock pads are typically produced in standard thigh rise heights of +1, +1.5, or +2. K-t-F is primarily used to fit the pad.
