Construction
MAX Core Profile: Derived from the Optik 4 pads, the MAX Core Profile is built to put down a wide, squared butterfly with stiff thighs and an aggressive precurve. Down from the Max Core Profile's stiff thigh, a softer, more flexible boot allows for tight plays at the post and easily rotates the pads down across an 80° toe taper.
Primo-Slide Boot Lining w/ Internal Lift: Designed to help put the pads down faster, the Optik leg pad boot is built to sit higher off of the skates. In effect, this positions the pads to hit the ice quicker and reduces binding between the pad's boot and skates.
Thin, No-break Outer Roll: Signature to Brians' Optik pads, a no-break streamlined outer roll helps to keep the X4 pads' rigid shape while also allowing for more precise puck-tracking in the crease.
Knee & Inner Edges
Open Knee Cradle: Prioritizing pad rotation and butterfly mobility, the Optik X4 pads’ knee strapping runs from the knee stack down to the outer calf wrap. For those who prefer to strap behind-the-knee to a knee wing/flap, includes a removable knee wing.
Double-laced One-piece Knee Block: A high-density knee block is double-laced into the pad's body, giving landings a solid, consistent feel, complimented by a Primo-Slide outer.
Primo-slide Inner Edges: A highly-durable cross-hatched material, Brian's Primo-Slide wraps the X4 pads' inner edges, giving slides a quick, yet controlled feel and improving long-term durability.
Strapping
3-point Adjustable Calf Wrap: Offering tension adjustment at the top and bottom of each calf, the reshaped Optik X4 calf wrap design allows goalies to fine-tune how the pads rotate and respond at the calves.
Outer-to-Inner Calf Plate Strapping: Part of the new 3-point calf strapping, the Optik X4 pads' calf plates are each backed with a plush outer calf wrapping that tightens across to its inner counterpart. In effect, this allows the primo-wrapped calf plates to stay stable and snug while allowing the calves to rotate.
Smart Boot Strap & Bungee Toe Ties: Included standard, Brian's Smart Cord bungee toe ties secure the pads while allowing the skates a greater range-of-motion, improving edge control and reducing lower body strain. For goalies who prefer a boot strap, the Optik X4 pads include Brian's Smart Strap Boot Strap.
Measurements: Use Ankle to Knee measurement to determine best general/recommended fit. Refer to Thigh Rise measurement if you are in-between sizes or prefer a slightly different fit.
Ankle to Knee: With the leg in a slightly bent position, measure from the inside ankle bone up to the center of the knee.
Thigh Rise: Measure from the center of the knee up to the desired thigh height.
