True's Catalyst 7X3 pads are built for the goalies who prefer a more traditional pad construction, offering a solid all-around balance between coverage and flexibility while coming in at a more accessible price point.
Construction
Composite-reinforced Thigh Rise: The Catalyst 7X3 leg pads feature a composite-reinforced thigh rise, redesigned to increase stiffness by 30% compared to previous True pads. Not only increasing thigh rise stiffness, the Catalyst 7X3 pads' composite-reinforced thigh rise measures 40% thinner than previous generation Lefevre pads, easing overlap and moving with a lighter overall feel.
Traditional Knee Roll Face: Evolving from True/Lefevre's Catalyst pad lineup, the Catalyst 7X3 pads take the ice with a classic knee roll face, comprised of dense foams that give the pads a wider range of rebound response.
Core & Flex
Single Break, Thin Stiff Core: Stock, True's Catalyst 7X3 leg pads ship with a stiff single break core, complementing their newly thinned profile. On the ice, the Catalyst 7X3 pads' single break with stiff flex puts down a rigid 5-hole seal while allowing a bit more flex in the thighs.
Single Break Outer Roll: A single-break outer roll furthers the Catalyst 7X3 pads' combination of springy padding with a more flexible thigh.
Knee Cradle & Leg Channel
Recessed Knee Cradle: A flush, recessed knee cradle not only offers space for knee guards, but also allows the Catalyst 7X3 pads to rotate more freely from the knees.
Fast Rotation System: True's FRS strapping refers to a plush inner calf wrapping with easily-adjustable tension at the top and bottom of the calves. In practice, True's FRS strapping allows goalies to fine-tune how their pads rotate and control from the calves.
Boot & Toe Box
Mid-stiff Boot Flex: True's mid-stiff boot holds a wide butterfly with wide, springy post coverage while allowing some flex in the ankles.
Centered, High-density Foam Bridge w/ Hybrid Pro Lace Ties: Hybrid Pro Laces secure the pads while allowing more give compared to skate lace toe ties, improving edge control and greatly reducing lower-body strain.
Knee-to-Floor: Without shoes or skates, measure the vertical distance from the floor to the middle of the knee cap.
Thigh Rise Height: Largely player preference, K-t-F is primarily used to fit the pad. True's retail stock pads are built with a +2 thigh rise.
