Build
Soft Flex Foam Core: Purpose-built for young and first-time goalies, the Ion Youth core prioritizes comfort and flexibility. For young goalies especially, feeling comfortable and confident is key to focusing on their game.
Beveled, Low-Profile Outer Roll: A solid outer roll helps the Ion Youth pads to maintain proper shaping without adding too much stiffness, while the outer roll's low-profile bevel helps to reduce skip over.
Knee & Leg Channel
Padded Leg Channel w/ Youth-Friendly Strapping: Continuing their focus on comfort and confidence, plush padding lines the inner edge, complemented by 3 simple straps used to secure the pads.
Boot & Toe Box
Bungee Toe Ties w/ Clips: Elastic toe ties secure each boot with more give over traditional skate lace toe ties, offering improved edge control and greatly reducing lower body strain.
Knee-to-Floor Measurement: Without shoes or skates, measure the vertical distance from the floor to the middle of the knee cap. Refer the K-t-F measurement to the chart above to find the goalies' recommended base leg pad size.
Please Note:
*Thigh rise height has not been included as thigh rise is largely player preference. Retail stock pads are typically produced in standard thigh rise heights of +1, +1.5, or +2. K-t-F is primarily used to fit the pad.
