- Reshaped after 2 years on the ice and in the hands of pros, Brians’ second generation Iconik pads debut with an all-new combination calf-knee strapping and 3 dynamic core options.
Construction- Refined Core: Built to move, the new Iconik 2 core options from Brian's offer a lighter feel compared to the previous generation, with the R-Flex core representing their lightest core to date.
- BRI-CORE Reinforced Thigh Rise: Familiar to fans of Brians' elite goalie equipment, their BRI-CORE Carbon-composite reinforcement helps to maintain a strong pop and tight seal through the thighs without compromising a lightweight, quick response.
- Thinned Profile: Another performance-focused generational improvement, the thinned Iconik 2 pad profile moves with a quicker, more responsive feel compared to their predecessors.
Core Options- Regular (R): Lightest and softest core option, built with a soft Hyperflex boot, leading up to a midflex through the knee and thigh.
- Cross (X): Slots between R and S cores, bridging the Hyperflex boot and stiff thigh with a midflex knee.
- Stiff (S): Stiffest core option, combining the Hyperflex boot with Brians' stiffest available knee and thigh flex.
Inner Edge and Outer Roll- Opti-Slide Sliding Edge: Rigid, high-density foam inner edges provide plenty of clean, bindingless space to navigate the crease from. Furthering both slide speed and control, Brians' highly-durable cross-hatched Primo Slide material wraps each inner edge.
- One-piece SBA Knee Block: Built to outlast and outperform, the Iconik 2 pads land with one-piece high density knee block, delivering a confident sense of precision control while also greatly enhancing durability. To add some additional traction a soft synthetic suede, SBA, tops the knee block.
- Squared, Dual-Density Outer Roll: A no-break outer roll reinforces the outside edge, lined with dual-density foams to absorb impact energy and help reduce skip-over.
Knee Options- Stock or Stiff Knee Stack: Brians' standard knee stack stiffness offers a stable, confident position to drive the pads from. A stiffer, more rigid knee stack is offered as a custom option for those who prefer.
- Knee Wing/Flap (Optional): For those who prefer to strap behind-the-knee to a knee wing/flap, Brian's offers a knee wing/flap as a custom option.
- Knee Guard Integration (Optional): Brian's newer generation of pads are designed to accommodate independent knee guards and do not include the hook-and-loop fastening tabs seen on previous generations. For those who prefer, knee guard tabs or knee guard tabs w/ Brian's Pro II knee guards, can be optioned.
Calf Strapping Options- Combined Knee-Calf Strapping (Alternative): Debuting with the Iconik 2 pads, the calves and knees are secured with a single, easily-adjustable strap. Compared Brians' more traditional design, using independent calf strapping and an independent knee strap, Brians' combined knee-calf strap secures the pads higher up the calves while keeping the knee and lower calves less restricted.
- Smart Strap Calf w/ Independent Knee (Traditional): Secures with the adjustable A-strap smart strapping over the calves and independent behind-the-knee strap as seen with the Optik 4 and first generation Iconik pads.
Boot Options- Stock or Stiff Boot Flex: Stock, Brian's builds their pads to hug the posts with a softer boot flex while remaining more rigid above the knee. Custom, each core option can be selected with a soft or firm boot flex.
- Boot Strapping: Standard, newer generation leg pads from Brian's do not include a boot strap. For those who prefer, Brian's Smart Boot strap or a leather strap can be optioned.
Toe Taper Options- 87° (Stock): Standard Brian's builds their pads with a modest, 87° toe taper. On the ice, this slight taper eases pad rotation without sacrificing too much post coverage at the toes.
- 90°: Brians' 90° toe taper squares-out the pad's boot for those looking to maximize post coverage.
- 84°: Offers a smoother pad rotation compared to 87° and 90° tapers, and slightly narrows the gap between the inner toe edge and the ice over to the 80°.
- 80°: Brians' widest taper, the 80° toe taper offers the smoothest pad rotation, at the cost of a larger gap between the ice and the inner toe edges.
Toe Tie Options- Smart Cord Bungee Ties (Stock): Included standard, Brian's Smart Cord bungee toe ties secure the pads while allowing the skates a greater range-of-motion, improving edge control and reducing lower body strain.
- Smart Toe Straps: A unique option from Brian's, the Smart Toe straps allow for a greater range of motion than traditional skate lace, and wrap the skates in a wider, stretchable strapping that can better center the pads compared to more narrow bungee toe ties.
- Skate Lace Ties: Non-waxed skate lace ties. Paired with Brians' standard toe box.
Fit and Comfort- Airknit Mesh Lower Leg Channel: While the previous generation Iconik pads were entirely lined with the tacky synthetic suede, SBA, the Iconik 2 pads are lined through the shins with a lightweight, more breathable Airknit Mesh.
- Knee Wing & Professor Strap Integration: The Iconik 2 pads feature a removable knee wing and include built-in tabs that offer an optional upper calf strap (professor strap) and optional knee pad integration.
