A GoalieMonkey exclusive, the Brian's line of sticks is designed to provide high-end foam core sticks at a lower price point than the competition.
Made in Canada, the Brian's F17 line is constructed with top-quality materials, beginning with a urethane foam core paddle construction reinforced with full unidirectional carbon laminates on the front and back for added stiffness and durability. The result is an F96 stick with a 'hard-lam' structure, similar to that found on other high-end foam core sticks.
The shaft is constructed of a pro aspen wood core with carbon and birch veneer laminates, producing an ideal combination of stiffness and durability.
The difference in the F17 and F96 lies in the outer laminate lay-up. The F17 will feature carbon/glass reinforcement in the front, designed to be resistant to frontal impacts while remaining flexible for better puck play. An additional strip of carbon laminate lines the blade for added stiffness. The F96 is constructed with a thinner unidirectional carbon fiber in the paddle with reinforcements on both the front and backside.
For the goalie looking for a pro-quality alternative to the more expensive top-level sticks from other manufacturers, the Brian's F17 goal stick is an unbeatable choice.
Generally, there is no true sizing when it comes to sticks due to the high amount of preference that comes with choosing a size of stick. Factors such as stance, play style, and comfortability come into play when choosing the right stick. For a goalie choosing a stick for the first time, we personally recommend getting a stick relative to the rest of your gear sizes. For example, Senior pads, glove, and blocker goalies should use a Senior stick.
As for the specific number sizing of a stick, this is where the other factors roll in to place so, finding another stick as a reference to feel out the size is the best advice if you truly don't know what size you are. A stick should allow the goaltender to comfortably be in a "ready stance" with the stick flush to the ground between their pads.
